Validating the project

You verify that the rule project is suitable for generating Excel scenario file templates.

Before you begin

Important:

Before validating the project, make sure that you select the correct constructor in the BOM. For more information about the constructors and how to use them, see Relationship between the BOM and the Excel file.

About this task

The default format for entering scenarios to test is Excel. When you use the default Excel format for your scenarios, you must validate that the rule projects on which you want to run tests are suitable for generating the correct columns in the Excel scenario file template.

You validate a project in the DVS Project Validation view. This view raises errors and warnings if the BOM or input parameters of the rule project require modification. You must fix any errors in the view before you generate an Excel scenario file.

Procedure

To validate the project:

  1. In the Rule Explorer, right-click the rule project on which you want to enable testing, and then click Decision Validation Services > Check project.

The DVS Project Validation view opens and lists the errors and warnings.

  2. To view the solution description, select the warning or error.

The Solution Description section displays a description of the warning or error and indicates what you can do to solve the problem.

  3. Double-click the warnings or errors to open the class or member to fix in the BOM editor.
  4. In the DVS Project Validation view, click the Refresh View button to view any remaining errors or warnings.

Results

If there are no remaining errors, you can generate the Excel scenario file template.

Important:

Make sure that you publish to Decision Center the project containing any BOM changes that you made during project validation.
