Configuring a default time zone

You can configure a default time zone for your company. This is the default time zone for SmartCloud Notes® users when they log in to the service the first time. It is used when users schedule meetings and for mail timestamps.

About this task

Although you can specify a default time zone, users can change the time zone to their own geography by setting a user preference. Notes client users can select File > Preferences > Calendar & To Do > Scheduling and then set the time zone to Local time.

SmartCloud Notes web users can change time zone settings when they log in for the first time using a web browser. After they change their password, the SmartCloud Account Update screen displays, where they can select a country, language, and time zone. Also, if the operating system time zone is different than the default time zone, a message informs users and directs them to Calendar > General preferences, where they can change the time zone setting.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the service as an administrator.
  2. If your account also has the User role, click Admin > Manage Organization.
  3. In the System Settings section of the navigation pane, click IBM SmartCloud Notes.
  4. Click Account Settings and then click Default Time Zone.
  5. Select a time zone.
  6. Click Save.
