As a workflow administrator, you must perform a variety of
tasks to configure the workflow system
Creating a workflow system
You must create a workflow system to contain your isolated
regions. When you create a workflow system, you define an isolated
region and its connection point. In addition, you can optionally customize
the database storage parameters and configure email notification.
Enabling email notification
You can optionally enable email notification of workflow
activity. Individual users can configure which notifications they
want to receive and their preferred locale. For example, users can
choose to be notified when work is assigned or when work approaches
or passes a deadline. Users who have been assigned as a workflow tracker
can be notified when the workflow is assigned to others, when it approaches
or passes a deadline, and when exceptions occur.
Configuring Component Integrator
You use Component Integrator to interact with an external
entity, or component, from a workflow step. For example, a component
can be a Java™ object or Java Message
Service object (Workplace only).
Configuring the Rules Connectivity Framework
You can use the Rules Connectivity Framework to implement
business rules for workflows. These rules can be simple or complex
and can perform a variety of actions, such as performing conditional
tests, setting values in data fields, or sending a work item to a
submap or exception map.
