Creating an MQ Service

Use the MQ Service editor to create an MQ Service. An MQ Service discovers artifacts from WebSphere® MQ Queue Managers.

Before you start: Ensure that your queue manager contains queues.

Each MQ Service specifies a one-way MQ Service, or a pair of queues in a request-response pattern. You can create an MQ Service for each queue manager.

To open the MQ Service editor, complete the following steps:

  1. Click File > New > MQ Service. The Create New MQ Service window opens.
  2. In the Create New MQ Service window, select a name for the library from the Library menu, or click New to create a library.
  3. Type a name for your Service in the Service Name field, and click Finish. The MQ Service editor opens.

In the MQ Service editor, complete the pages:

  1. On the Connect page, complete the fields. Optionally, click Test Connection. Click Next.
  2. On the Select Resources page, select either the Select resources for Request-Response operation, or Select resources for One-Way operation. Specify the filter text, decide whether to include System queues, Dynamic queues, or both. Optionally, click Refresh queues, to view any queues that you added since you set the parameters on the Connect page. All existing queues are displayed.
  3. From the list of existing queues, select the queue name that you want to use for the Request queue and click Select Request. If you selected Select resources for Request-Response operation, repeat this step for the Response queue. Click Next.
  4. Optionally, on the MQ Configuration page, expand the Request Message Headers and Response Message Headers sections and complete the fields to configure the MQ headers. Click Next.
  5. On the Service Interface page, configure your interface and advanced binding parameters. Click Next.
  6. On the Summary page, review the Service structure and the list of files that are created when the Service is saved. Click Save.

Next steps:

In the Message Flow editor, use the MQ Service definition to create and configure MQ nodes. See Configuring an MQ node by using an MQ Service.
