Using response files with the Integration Bus component

You can use a response file to define the behavior of an installation wizard that is running the silent interface.

A response file is a text file that contains options that define the choices that the wizard makes. You can use response files to install or uninstall the Integration Bus component, or to apply service updates by using non-default values.

Editing the sample response files

A sample response file is supplied. On Linux and UNIX systems, the file is /sample-scripts/response.properties. On Windows, the file is \sample-scripts\response.properties. The sample response file includes detailed information about the options that you can change, and the values that you can enter to change the options. You can tailor the file to match your requirements. To view example response files, see Installing the Integration Bus component in silent mode.

Recording a response file

Use the following command to record a response file:

installer -r response_file_directory

On Windows, surround the path and name with quotation marks if it contains spaces ("response file"). Create this file in a directory different from the one in which the product is installed.

The installation wizard starts its graphical interface and records your responses as it progresses. When installation is complete, the response file contains all the choices that you have made during installation.

If you want to record a response file during a console installation, use the following command:

installer -r response_file_directory -i console

Calling response files in commands

Use the following command to run the silent interface with a response file:

installer –i silent -f response_file_name

On Windows, surround the path and name with quotation marks if it contains spaces.

The wizard runs, taking its input from the response file.
