Creating an integration node by using the IBM Integration Toolkit

Create an integration node by using the IBM® Integration Toolkit on Linux® or Windows.

Before you begin

  • On Windows, you must have administrator access rights to create integration nodes by using the IBM Integration Toolkit. When creating an integration node, you might be prompted to agree to the use of administrator rights or be prompted to enter an administrator user ID and password.
  • If you want to configure the integration node as a WebSphere® MQ trusted application, see Using WebSphere MQ trusted applications.
  • Read Considering security for an integration node.
  • Check which operation mode you are licensed to use. If you do not set a mode, the default is advanced mode; for more information, see Operation modes.

About this task

When you create an integration node, you can specify a queue manager to be associated with the integration node. This queue manager is used by default for MQ processing in the message flow if no queue manager has been specified explicitly on the MQ node. Some message flow nodes, such as SCA, CD, and FTE nodes, and event-driven processing nodes used for aggregation, timeout, message collections, and message sequences, require a queue manager to be specified for the integration node. For more information about the IBM Integration Bus features that require a queue manager to be specified on the integration node, see Enhanced flexibility in interactions with WebSphere MQ.

Follow these steps to create an integration node by using the IBM Integration Toolkit:

Procedure

  1. In the Integration Development perspective, select the Integration Nodes view.
  2. Right-click the Integration Nodes folder, and click New > Local Integration Node.
The New Local Integration Node wizard is displayed.
  3. Enter a name for the integration node. Optionally, enter a queue manager name to be associated with the integration node.
  4. On Windows, enter your user name and password.
These parameters are not required on Linux.
  5. Optional: On Windows, select whether to start the integration node automatically when Windows starts.
  6. Enter a name for the default integration server, or accept the value default.
  7. Optional: Enter a value for the flow debug port for the default integration server.
  8. Click Finish.

Results

You have created and started an integration node.
