Installing a Sametime Community Server that uses a native Domino Directory, on AIX, Linux, or Windows

Install one or more IBM® Sametime® Community Servers without using a deployment plan, and then register the new servers with the Sametime System Console. This procedure supports the use of a native IBM Domino® Directory for the Sametime Community Server.

About this task

This installation procedure does not require you to run a guided activity and create a deployment plan on the Sametime System Console; however the Sametime System Console must be running when you register the new Sametime Community Server or cluster. If you install a cluster of Sametime Community Servers, register the cluster with the Sametime System Console instead of registering the individual servers.

  1. Installing a SametimeCommunity Server without using the Sametime System Console, on AIX, Linux, or Windows
    Install an IBM Sametime Community Server without creating a deployment plan on the Sametime System Console. This type of installation supports the use of a native IBM Domino Directory with the Sametime Community Server. It is also required for installing Sametime Community Server Limited Use.
  2. Registering the Sametime Community Server with the Sametime System Console on AIX, Linux, or Windows
    Register a new IBM Sametime Community Server with the Sametime System Console so that you can administer the Community Server from the System Console's administration pages. Even if you will cluster Sametime Community Servers, you must register the individual servers first.
  3. Registering a Sametime Community Server cluster on AIX, Linux, and Windows
    If you are clustering Sametime Community Servers on IBM AIX®, Linux, or Microsoft Windows, register the cluster with the Sametime System Console, so you can manage all of the Sametime servers from a central location.
  4. Enabling support for a native Domino Directory on AIX, Linux, or Windows
    If your IBM Sametime Community Server uses a native IBM Domino Directory instead of an LDAP directory, you must enable support for the Domino Directory in Sametime.
