Setting up the Video Manager server load balancer

The load balancer is installed with the IBM® Sametime® Video Manager and run locally on that node. The load balancer is clusterer for high availability and is fronted by an IP sprayer. All HTTP and SIP communications are processed through an IP sprayer which randomly selects a load balancer.

Before you begin

  • Install a third-party IP sprayer which is both HTTP and SIP compliant.
  • Install Sametime Video Manager on a master node and replica nodes or on all nodes. For installation instructions see this procedure: Installing the Sametime Media Manager Video Manager.
  • Configure a third-party IP to the front end load balancer nodes. As part of the configuration, enable SSL between the IP sprayer and all load balancer nodes for HTTP traffic.
Important: The port on the load balancer node for HTTPS is 7443 and for SIP is 5080, and 5081 for SIPS.
  • Configure Solid DB replication. Load balancing requires that Solid DB replication be configured. For more information, see the Setting up Solid DB replication for a Video Manager server farm.
