Configuring databases
Use the WebSphere® Portal
Customization Dialog to create, configure, and transfer databases.
You can optionally configure database domains to share across separate
portal instances and configure separate portal instances to use the
same database subsystem.
Sharing database domains between separate portal instances
Domains are the database or schema objects that can be
managed separately and shared between different portal instances.
The domains provided by WebSphere Portal for z/OS® are Release, Community,
Customization, IBM Java Content
Repository (JCR),
Feedback, and LikeMinds. Data that is managed by domains can be shared
across multiple instances of WebSphere Portal , for example, instance1 and instance2 ,
where instance2 is connected to the database domains
of instance1 . A WebSphere Portal instance can be
either a single server or WebSphere Portal cluster.
Configuring two portal instances using the same database subsystem
You can install two separate instances of IBM WebSphere Portal , portal_instance1 and portal_instance2 , into the same IBM DB2 Universal Database™ for z/OS subsystem.
