Tasks
These tasks illustrate how you can use the CICS® IA plug-in to analyze and explore the collected data about CICS interactions and CICS, Affinity, IMS™, DB2®, and MQ resources.
- Searching for resources
You can search for resources from the CICS IA perspective toolbar, or you can use queries. You can use predefined queries that are supplied with the CICS IA plug-in, or create and use your own queries. - Viewing affinities
You can view resources with potential affinities. This facility is useful for users of CICS dynamic routing, and for application programmers. - Creating an affinity report
You can create an affinity report in XML format for one or more regions, for one or more affinity types. To create an affinity report, you can use the Regions view or the Report Explorer view. - Building a CICSPlex SM Workload Manager transaction group file
You can build a CICSPlex® SM Workload Manager (WLM) transaction group file in XML format that contains affinity-transaction-group definitions that are suitable for input to CICSPlex SM. To build a CICSPlex SM WLM transaction group file, you use the Report Explorer view. - Deploying transaction group definitions to CICSPlex SM
After you build a CICSPlex SM Workload Manager (WLM) transaction group file that contains affinity-transaction-group definitions that are suitable for input to CICSPlex SM, you can deploy the transaction group definitions to a CICSplex. - Creating a report of threadsafe issues
You can create summary or detailed reports of threadsafe issues in HTML format. To create a threadsafe report, you can use a view that shows the region, program, or transaction for which you require a report, or you can use the Report view. - Viewing a command flow timeline
You can view a timeline of the commands that the Command Flow Collector has collected. The commands are grouped by program, then displayed in rows or columns that represent the different platforms and applications, regions, or Task Control Block (TCB) modes that were used. - Comparing resources
You can compare the results of previous resource searches. You can refine the comparison by combining results or excluding them. - Logging SQL queries
You can log all the SQL queries that are issued by the CICS IA or CICS PA plug-in, and view the query text, the time when the query was issued, and the ID of the process thread that executed the query. - Changing the highlight color
You can use the Details pane in the Preferences window to change the color that is used for highlighting in the CICS IA perspective. For example, highlighting is used in the Program details view.
