Exporting assets to a deployment data set
After you prepare FileNet® P8 assets for deployment in the source environment, you create a deployment data set of exported objects by exporting the assets that are listed in an export manifest file. For information about creating an export manifest, see Create or update an export manifest. To run this operation, use the FileNet Deployment Manager user interface, or create an export operation file for use with the command-line interface. After you create a deployment data set from the source environment, the next step is Extracting the source environment half maps for the destination environment.
Important: When the export operation is processing, cease
all modification activities that are running against the assets that
you are migrating to ensure that a consistent set of assets is exported.
To verify that there is no modification current activity, the FileNet
P8 administrator needs to communicate with FileNet P8 users that are
active in the source environment. Ceasing activity reduces the load
on the system and minimizes the risk of introducing unexpected changes
in the data you export.
