Topology considerations

In IBM® Business Monitor, you can select from several different configuration paths to create your deployment environment.

A cross-cell environment is one in which IBM Business Monitor receives events from a server that is in a different cell from the IBM Business Monitor server. A cross-cell environment can involve either network deployment (ND) or single-server topology.

In IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5, cross-cell configuration for event emission between IBM Business Process Manager cells and IBM Business Monitor cells is simplified. Events are delivered directly into the monitor model event processing database table. Events can be delivered even if the IBM Business Monitor is unavailable.

IBM Business Monitor V8.5.5 can be configured to work in a cross cell environment with the following products:
  • IBM Process Designer V7.0
  • IBM Business Process Manager V7.5.1
  • IBM Business Process Manager V8.0.x
  • IBM Business Process Manager V8.5
  • IBM Business Process Manager V8.5.5
Note: If you are using a remote Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) event source, you must perform several steps to enable cross-cell communication. For information on performing these steps, see "Configuring how to receive events."
