Modifying runtime server configuration properties

In some cases, you might need to make changes to the IBM Business Process Manager runtime configuration, such as modifying proxy settings, managing Enterprise Content Manager and IBM Case Manager server settings, or modifying the IBM Process Server connection properties. Configuration updates are made either in the 100Custom.xml file or by using the Process Admin Console, depending on the type of change required.

Changing server settings in the Process Admin Console
You can edit the settings for process application snapshots for Enterprise Content Management, IBM Case Management, and IBM WebSphere ILOG JRules using the Servers page in the Process Admin Console.
The 99Local.xml and 100Custom.xml configuration files
Many default IBM Process Server configuration settings are saved in the 99Local.xml file; the 100Custom.xml file is used to modify one or more of those default settings. Both files are stored in the profile root for the server.
Modifying IBM Process Server connection properties
You can update the server configuration to connect a Process Server in your runtime environment to a different Process Center, to connect an offline server, or to modify other connection properties. A few settings can be updated using the Authentication Alias Configuration and the rest using the WebSphere command-line administration tool (wsadmin) AdminConfig commands.
Modifying the IBM Process Server environment type
If you want to modify the environment type that was specified during initial configuration, update the configuration using the updateBPMConfig administrative command. The environment type indicates how IBM Business Process Manager is used (for example, in a development, test, staging or production environment). Process authors can set environment-specific variables for each process application and then define values for each type of environment in which a process runs.

You can set up your ECM server connection to use SSL for security protection.
Accessing an Enterprise Content Management server using single sign on (SSO)
If the same people use IBM Business Process Manager and Enterprise Content Management, you might be able to use single sign on to allow them to access both systems with a single log on ID.
Extending the maximum number of characters in tracked performance data
By default, the maximum number of characters that is allowed in performance data (variable fields that are tracked to the Performance Data Warehouse for reporting purposes) is 64. You can extend this limit by making the following changes to the property file for your IBM Business Process Manager Performance Data Warehouse. The changes that you make to this property affect the column sizes in the tracking group tables.
Configuring proxy settings
If you use a proxy server for internet connections, you can configure IBM Business Process Manager so that it uses the appropriate server and protocol for internet connections, such as when connecting to Blueworks Live.
