When you click a process instance in the Process Inspector,
specific details are displayed in a separate panel. You can view detailed
information about one specific process instance or view a summary
of information about an entire group that you select.
About this task
You can click one item in the list to see specific
information about that process instance, such as error details and
actions that can be taken. If you select several items, or use the
Select All option, then you will see summarized information about
your selection, such as common errors, locations, and actions that
can be taken.
Procedure
To view process instances details, complete the following
steps. A process named Hiring is used for example
purposes.
- From the Process Inspector search
results, select a process instance. (Tip: Make your
selection by selecting a check box, clicking on the name, or clicking
anywhere in the row.) The process instance details
panel opens.
All tokens in the business process are displayed according
to the following types:
- Tasks (open and completed)
- Timers (active only)
- Message events (listening only)
- Orphaned tokens
Other activity details include:
The Expand icon () next
to an error message indicates there is additional information available
(such as stack trace, location, date-time, and so forth).
- To view error details, click the Expand icon
(). The Runtime Error Information window
opens.
- After you review the error information, close the window.
- To view information about multiple process instances, select
individual check boxes or click the Select All option
located at the top of the search results list. Information
similar to the following is displayed:
- Number of processes selected
- Actions, such as Retry failed steps, Terminate,
or Delete
When
you enable Select All, the initial selection
includes only those items listed on the page. If there are more results
than those listed on the page, a link is displayed with the total
number of items that resulted from the query. Click the link if you
want to select all results in the query. This option does not display
all results, but only includes them in your selection.
For
example, there are 200 results in a query of "Failed" items. The first
20 items are visible on the page, however, you want to initiate a
retry action on all 200 failed items, not 20 at a time. To include
all 200 failed items that resulted in the query, click the link Select
all 200 rows and then any task action
that you initiate will process all 200 items (even though they are
not all displayed).
