IBM Content Navigator, Version 2.0.3

Planning for Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)

How IBM® Content Navigator supports LDAP depends on the repository that you are using.

IBM Content Manager users only.IBM Content Manager OnDemand users only.If you use an LDAP server to manage user authentication on your IBM Content Manager or IBM Content Manager OnDemand server, IBM Content Navigator supports LDAP user authentication. However, LDAP is not required to use IBM Content Navigator with either repository.

Restriction: When you have a repository that uses LDAP to manage user authentication, users cannot change their passwords from theIBM Content Navigator web client.

IBM FileNet P8 users only.IBM Content Navigator uses the LDAP server that is configured for Content Engine. When you configure the IBM Content Navigator web application, you configure the web application server to use the Content Engine LDAP repository. The values that you specify must match the values that are set on your Content Engine server. However, the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment tool does not include every option that you can set when you configure your LDAP server connection.

Work with your LDAP server administrator to determine whether there are any settings that you must configure on the IBM Content Navigator web application server that are not included in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool. If your LDAP server connection includes additional settings, you must manually update your LDAP server connection on your web application server after you run the following task in the IBM Content Navigator Configuration and Deployment Tool: Configure the Connection to Your LDAP Server.

Tip: You can open the administrative console for the web application server for Content Engine to ensure that your LDAP configurations match.
