DB2 Version 9.7 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows

Viewing event information with the event analyzer

Use the Event Analyzer window to view information on database activities that is being collected by an event monitor. For example, you can use an event monitor to record information on activities, such as connections, transactions, statements, and deadlocks. After the event monitor has written its data, you can look at the collected performance information using the event analyzer.

About this task

Important: The Event Analyzer has been deprecated in Version 9.7 and might be removed in a future release. Start using IBM® Data Studio and IBM Optim™ tools. For a mapping between these recommended tools and Control Center tools, see Table of recommended tools versus Control Center tools.
To view event information:
  1. Open the Event Analyzer window by expanding the Control Center's object tree until you find the Event Monitors folder. Click the folder. Any existing event monitors are displayed in the pane on the right side of the window (the contents pane). Right-click the event monitor you want and select Analyze Event Monitor Records from the pop-up menu. The Event Analyzer window opens.

Optional: If you know the name of the event monitor and the database being monitored, you can type the command db2eva on the command line. The Open event analyzer window opens, where you can specify the required information.

  2. Initially the event analyzer displays the time periods that have been monitored by the event monitor. You can view detailed performance information for a monitored period by selecting the period and choosing the level of detail from the Navigate to box. The levels of detail available are:
    • Connections
    • Databases
    • Deadlocks
    • Deadlock connections
    • Overflows
    • Transactions
    • Statements
    • Tables
    • Table spaces
    • Buffer pools
