You can use an installation wizard to install IBM® Content
Classification.
Before you begin
For AIX®, Linux, or Solaris: Open the /etc/hosts file
on the computer on which you plan to install Content Classification and verify that there
are localhost entries for the unqualified computer name. For example:
127.0.0.1 localhost ComputerName
::1 localhost ComputerName
Ensure that only the
unqualified computer name is listed in the localhost entries. The
domain name should not be specified. For example, the entries
should not specify ComputerName.DomainName.
About this task
Install
Content Classification components
behind a firewall. For more information, see
Firewall configuration.
Procedure
To install IBM Content
Classification by
using the installation wizard:
- From the product DVD or electronic distribution image,
run the appropriate setup file for your operating system to start
the installation wizard:
Operating system |
Setup file |
AIX |
Log in as a user with read, write, and execute permission
for the installation directory and enter: ./classificationsetup88_aix.bin |
Linux |
Log in as a user with read, write, and execute permission
for the installation directory and enter: ./classificationsetup88_linux.bin |
Solaris |
Log in as a user with read, write, and execute permission
for the installation directory and enter: ./classificationsetup88_sunos.bin |
Windows |
Log in as a user with administrator authority. Double-click
the classificationsetup88_win32.exe file or enter classificationsetup88_win32.exe in
a command window. On Windows 7 and Windows 2008, run the IBM Content
Classification installation program
as an administrator. Right-click the classificationsetup88_win32.exe file
and select Run as Administrator. |
- Accept the default installation path or specify a different
location. If you specify a different location, be sure
to specify the fully qualified path.
- Select which IBM Content
Classification components
to install. Select All to install
all components, or Custom to install only specific
components.
- Specify the location of the administration and data servers.
- If you plan to run all IBM Content
Classification components on a single
computer, install the administration and data server on this computer.
Specify the following information:
- Accept the default ports for the administration server, data server,
and Process Manager server or specify different ports. If you specify
different ports, ensure that the ports that you specify are not used
by other processes in your environment.
Important: On AIX, Linux,
and Solaris, if you install
IBM Content
Classification on
a computer on which another instance of
IBM Content
Classification is already installed,
ensure that you do not accept the default port values. Instead, specify
unique port values for the second installation and ensure that each
port value is higher than the port value in the first installation
by 1000. For example, if the administration server port number in
the first installation is 18085, specify 19085 for the administration
server port in the second installation.
- Solaris: If you are running the installation wizard on
Solaris, specify the fully qualified path for the location of the libstlport.so library.
Requirement: You must install the version
of the libstlport.so library that is provided
with Sun Studio 8.
- Choose whether you want to install the listener component on this
computer. The listener is the server component that handles user requests.
If you install the listener, ensure that the port that you specify
is not used by other processes in your environment.
- If you plan to install the components on multiple servers
to enhance performance and scalability, select the option to connect
to the administration and data server on a remote computer and specify
the host name and port of the remote computer on which the data server
runs.
- Accept the default port for the text extraction
server. If you specify additional ports on which to run
text extraction servers, ensure that the ports that you specify are
not used by other processes in your environment.
Important: Adding
too many text-extraction servers can negatively affect the overall
performance of your classification system. If the computer does not
have sufficient system resources, adding additional text-extraction
servers might reduce the resources available for the knowledge base
and decision plan instances.
- If you install the Classification Center, specify the port
on which it will run.
- After you review the summary information, click Install.
