Running the installation program in console mode

On AIX®, Linux, and Solaris, you can install the IBM® Content Classification components without using a graphical user interface.

Before you begin

If you plan to run the installation program in console mode, ensure that no setting is defined for the DISPLAY environment variable.

Open the /etc/hosts file on the computer on which you plan to install Content Classification and verify that there are localhost entries for the unqualified computer name. For example:

127.0.0.1  localhost ComputerName
::1  localhost ComputerName

Ensure that only the unqualified computer name is listed in the localhost entries. The domain name should not be specified. For example, the entries should not specify ComputerName.DomainName.

Procedure

To install IBM Content Classification in console mode:

  1. From the product DVD or electronic distribution image, log in as a user with read, write, and execute permission for the installation directory and enter the appropriate command for your operating system:
    Operating system Command
    AIX ./classificationsetup88_aix.bin -i console
    Linux ./classificationsetup88_linux.bin -i console
    Solaris ./classificationsetup88_sunos.bin -i console
  2. Follow the instructions to specify your selections and respond to the prompts. The information that you must provide is the same as the information that you specify when you run the installation wizard.

    Respond to each prompt to proceed to the next step in the installation. If you want to change something in a previous step, type back. You can cancel the installation at any time by typing quit.
