Changing the way enterprise content is accessed

The activities in a process can access documents that are stored in an Enterprise Content Management system (ECM). If your process accessed content with the Basic Case Management feature in a previous release, you must change the content management method to IBM® BPM. When you make the change, you lose some information that you must recover manually.

The following changes occur in the process, and you need to re-create some settings manually.
Document start event
All the document start events from the original process are carried over to the converted process. The starting document field is empty and you must manually select the starting document and map the properties.
Document preconditions to start an activity
If the original process contains an activity that has preconditions defined based on document types, the selected document types and their settings are lost and must be manually re-created. Precondition expressions (on the right side) are carried over.
Process Variables
The FileNet mode contains a special process variable that is called Case Folder Properties that is not required by IBM BPM content management. To maintain these variables, they are collapsed into one private shared variable that has the same name as the Case Folder Properties variable. All the properties of the Case Folder Properties variable become parameters of this shared variable, with the same name and type as before.
Folder Hierarchy
The complete folder hierarchy is transferred over exactly as it was represented in the original process. The converted process has folder management settings for each folder. By default, the folders are set to be managed by IBM Business Process Manager by using locally managed documents and folders.
To change the content management method of a process to IBM BPM:
  1. Open the process in the Overview page.
  2. In the Advanced section, click the Convert button.
