Installing Annotation Administration Console in console mode

You can install IBM® Watson Explorer Annotation Administration Console after you install the IBM Watson Explorer Foundational Components.

Before you begin

Be sure to read about the information that you must gather before you run the installation program.

You can change the temporary directory for the installation program if the default temporary directory does not have enough space. You must set the temporary directory to a directory that has enough space before you start the installation program. For example:

Linux: export IATEMPDIR=/home/tmp
Windows: set TMP=d:\temp

About this task

When you run the installation program in console mode, the screens are rendered in text and prompt you for the same information as the graphical installation mode.

Procedure

To run the installation program in console mode:

Change to the directory where you installed the IBM Watson Explorer Foundational Components, such as /opt/IBM/WEX on a Linux system or C:\Program Files\IBM\WEX on a Windows system.
Run the appropriate command for your operating system:
Linux
1. Start a terminal session (xterm, gnome-terminal, or other terminal application) and use the su or sudo -s command to become the root user.
2. Run the command: ./ANNOTATION_ADMIN_LINUX_11.0.0.bin -i console
Windows
1. Log in as a Windows administrator.
2. Run the command: ANNOTATION_ADMIN_WINDOWS_11.0.0.exe -i console
Tip:
- On Windows, a process runs in the background for a number of seconds before the installation program prompts are displayed.
- On Linux or Windows, it might take a few minutes for the installation program to finish installing the software after you press Enter at the end of the installation prompts. Do not end the program or suspend the program until user control is returned so that additional commands can be entered.
- To exit the console installation process before it finishes, enter quit at the command prompt.
- For details about the success of the program or to learn about why the installation failed, see the log file in the Annotation Administration Console installation directory, for example, on Windows:
  C:\Program Files\IBM\es\uninstall_11.0.0\Logs\v11.0.0install.log
On Windows, after the software is installed, restart the computer before you start Annotation Administration Console.
