Creating changes

Use the Changes page to plan features, defect fixes, and other content for initiatives, releases, and applications.

About this task

When you plan an initiative or release, you decide what changes you include. You can represent these changes in IBM® UrbanCode Release with different types of changes. You can create changes or import changes from other applications. For information about importing changes from JIRA, see Using the integration provider to integrate with JIRA. For information about importing changes from IBM Rational® Team Concert, see Using the integration provider to integrate with Rational Team Concert. Even if you import changes from another application, you might need to create a change in IBM UrbanCode Release to immediately record a change.

Procedure

  1. Click Changes.
  2. Click Add New. The Change pane is displayed.
  3. From the Type list, select a type of change for the release. If the default change types do not apply to your release process, you can create custom change types. See Creating custom change types.
  4. Specify a name.
  5. Optional: Use the displayed lists to select the change's status and severity and to associate the change with releases, applications, and initiatives.
Note: To track its progress, associate a change with an initiative or both an application and a release.
  6. Optional: Specify a detailed description.
  7. Click Save.

Results

The change is saved and associated with the specified release, application, or initiative.

What to do next

Update the status of the change to reflect its current work state. Use the status of changes to determine whether a release, application, or initiative can progress through your release process. See Reviewing changes in releases and initiatives.
