Error description

  • You work with IBM SPSS Statistics 21 and have a SAV file with
numeric variables formatted either as numeric with zero decimal
values or as numeric variable with 1 decimal value:

    v1 v2
    1 1.5
    2 4.7
    3 3.5

You export the file as Excel 2007 or higher XLSX format and open
the file in Microsoft Excel 2007 or higher. You notice that in
the Excel file the formatting of the exported variables look
    like the example below:

    v1 v2
    1.00 1.50
    2.00 4.70
    3.00 3.50

So the variables are displayed with two decimal places instead
of zero and 1 on the exported file.
This was reported to IBM SPSS development. However, this is more
a cosmetic issue with the display of the values and not a
functional problem. No decimal values are lost. You can format
the cell content in Excel to Number with 0 and Number with 1
decimal places for the display of the variables.

Local fix

  • This issue will be addressed in a future release.
