Error description

  • At queue manager restart, a dump with the following symptom is
    created:

    TITLE: ssid,ABN=5C6-00C91500,U=SYSOPR ,
    -CSQIERS3,M=CSQGFRCV,LOC=CSQILPLM.CSQIERS3

or, if the dump was suppressed by DAE:
    CSQY291E CSQWDSDM SDUMPX FAILED, RC=00000B08,ssid,
    ABN=5C6-00C91500,LOC=CSQILPLM.CSQIERS3

    followed by:
*CSQV086E QUEUE MANAGER ABNORMAL TERMINATION REASON=00D96001

The problem goes back to the prior start of the queue manager
where the it was started with an inconsistent set of logs and
pagesets. The BSDS and logs were recreated, but the page sets
did not have CSQUTIL RESETPAGE run to have RBA values reset as
    instructed at https://ibm.biz/BdrTh8.

That prior start should have received an abend to let the
administrator know that the RESETPAGE was missed so that the
problem could be corrected then. That would prevent the need
for a cold start to resolve the abends encountered during the
    next start-up.

Local fix

  • By the time the 00C91500 error occurs, a cold start will be
    needed to resolve the problem:
    - Redefine the BSDS and logs. Reference sample CSQ4BSDS in
SCSQPROC--you should have a customized copy of it from when the
    queue manager was created.
    - Reformat all the page sets using CSQUTIL with FORMAT
    TYPE(RECOVER).

When the log RBA approaches the end of the RBA range the logs
    need to be reset.
After redefining the logs CSQUTIL should be run with the
RESETPAGE option to reset the log RBA values in all of the page
    sets.
If the RESETPAGE step is omitted, or done incorrectly, and the
queue manager is started the incorrect RBA values in the page
sets can lead to data integrity errors, and require the queue
manager to be cold started to recover.

Problem conclusion

  • Additional validation is added to detect page sets that have not
had RESETPAGE run against them following a log reset.
When a page set that requires RESETPAGE to be run is detected
message CSQI050E is issued to report this.
When this occurs during queue manager restart, queue manager
startup is terminated abnormally with abend 5C6-00C94525.
When this occurs during DEFINE PSID processing (i.e. readding a
page set that had been added dynamically), the DEFINE PSID
    command fails.

values higher than the maximum logged.

     System action
During queue manager startup, restart is terminated abnormally

During DEFINE PSID command processing, the command fails.

    System programmer response

Run CSQUTIL with the RESETPAGE utility against the page set(s)
