Error description
Starting with GSKit 7.0.4.38 or later on Solaris only, the Tivoli Directory Server client library and utilities fail to load GSKit with error: ldap_ssl_client_init failed! rc == 118, failureReasonCode == 118 Unknown SSL error
Local fix
GSKit 7.0.4.37 or earlier does not exhibit this problem.
Problem summary
Starting with GSKit 7.0.4.38 or later on Solaris, the GSKit libraries do not explicitly link librt.so, but still require it. So unless the application using GSKit has already loaded librt.so (which the TDS client does not) the GSKit libraries will fail to load due to unresolved symbols. A trace will show the error "referenced symbol not found" from dlopen(). The problem has been reported to GSKit development and should be corrected in a future GSKit build. In the meantime the TDS client utilities (idsldapsearch, idsldapmodify, etc) have been changed to explicitly link librt.so as a work around.
Problem conclusion
The fix for this APAR is contained in the following maintenance packages: | interim fix | 6.0.0.72-ISS-ITDS-IF0072 |
