Error description

  • An ANR0102E error 8 inserting row in table adminst message is
    issued when a select statement is run against the adminst table.
    This can be caused by issuing the command manually or if it is
    entered by another process. An example of this would be when
    adding a server connection in the Administration Center. It is
    possible for the length of the data being inserted into a column
    in the table to be longer than the defined length for that
    column. This issue is similar to APAR IC61009, but affects the
    CLIENT_ACCESS column. In this case, admins with authority on
    multiple nodes

    TSM Versions Affected: TSM 6.1 servers on all platforms

    Customer/L2 Diagnostics:
    A trace with flags DB, DBEXEC, and ADM will show the value that
    is being entered into the adminst.

    Example:
    HH:MM:SS.TTT [XX][tbcli.c][9778][TraceSetInputParameters]:
    col=10, name=CLIENT_ACCESS, type=STRING, value=XXXXXX

    If the length of the "value=" string is greater than the length
    of the field in the table (128 characters), the error will
    occur.

    The affected Admin account can be found by looking a little
    earlier in the trace for the following entry:

    HH:MM:SS.TTT [XX][tbcli.c][9778][TraceSetInputParameters]:
    key=0, name=ADMIN_NAME, type=STRING, value=XXXXXX

    Initial Impact: Medium

    Additional Keywords: ANR0162W, ANR0157W, ANR0158W, Admin
    Center, AC, add server connection, ADMIN_CENTER, adminst,
    adminst, zz61

Local fix

  • Use the REVOKE AUTHORITY command to reduce the number of nodes
    for the affected Admin account. If needed, a new Admin account
    can be created and given authority for the removed nodes until
    a fix is available.
