Description
03/18/2020 SI70523 5770SS1 C9311730 IBM i OS generic named virtual devices used by Pass-thru or Telnet are reported to be unavailable when many exist. This is caused because the process that builds the list of available devices that runs after an IPL was interrupted when ENDSBS *IMMED was ran to bring the system immediately back into a restricted state. When the process that builds the list of available devices is interrupted, it will be restarted the next time device selection processing is required. (SE71485)
03/18/2020 MF65457 5770999 C9116730 Unsolicited data is not being validated properly in some cases causing the session to be closed and a LIC LOG 0700 0051 to be generated. (MA47340)
06/01/2018 MF64522 5770999 C8242730 Telnet Server will handle unexpected Telnet Terminal Type negotiation after Device Name Collision which caused Telnet Server exception and 2C00 1496 VLOG and the IP Interface may quit responding. (MA46802)
06/01/2018 MF63799 5770999 C7283730 VTAPI virtual device application errors errors and subsequent failure may cause other sessions to be disconnected. (MA45993)
11/30/2017 SI65503 5770SS1 C7283730 TRCTCPAPP *TELNET/*VTAPI enhancement to accomodate 4096 traced jobs and avoid error MCH3802 when the previous limit of 200 jobs was reached. (SE67813)
11/30/2017 MF62915 5770999 C7061730 TLS Alert records attempted to be sent during underlying TCP communication outage are leaked causing temp storage growth. (MA45978)
05/05/2017 MF63620 5770999 C7283730 Interaction between NETSTAT and Telnet can cause deadlock of TCP/IP Interface. An IPL is required to recover. (MA46382)
12/20/2016 MF62497 5770999 C7061730 Telnet Server LIC Tasks are driving large amounts of storage to be allocated and freed. The Telnet Server used the TCP/IP Attributes for receive buffer which was increased by default in r7.2 and r7.3 IBM i OS. The Telnet Server does not need such a large receive buffer and on systems with high Telnet activity the large amount of storage management can impact overall system performance. (MA45843)
05/02/2016 MF61930 5770999 C6229730 Telnet not logging SSL Connection errors in QTVTELNET joblog (MA45567)
Telnet sessions ended by client in race condition cleaning up with session rejection like CPF8902 "device in use" is being sent may hang the Telnet server. (MA45473)
IPL required to restart Telnet. VLOG symptoms are varied and highly timing dependent:
VLOG 10002207 in task TNSRIOCOMPORT
VLOG 07010057 in task TNSRIOCOMPORT
VLOG 1F00BB10 in job QTVDEVICE
