APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Under some heavy loads, status is not returned by the
Oracle
Listener in time for the application monitor to consider
it
alive, and is reported as having failed.  Unnecessary and
disruptive recovery is then started.

Local fix

  • 



Problem summary


    

  • Under heavy loads, the hard coded 15 second timeout for the
application monitor may not be sufficient.  Also, under
such loads, the temporary file used to collect Listener
status may get reused before it has been processed.

    



Problem conclusion


    

  • Allow adjustment of timeout.
