WebSphere Process Server Version 6.2.0 - Configuring the Process Choreographer and other BPM components in a clustered environment

White Papers

Abstract

A step by step guide based on Linux and Oracle 11g including WebSphere Business Space and IBM HTTP Server.

Content

This document contains an overview of the tasks required for setting up a production environment of a Business Process Management solution with a main focus on WebSphere Process Server and in particular the Business Process Choreographer. Additionally the WebSphere Business Monitor and IBM HTTP Server products and the WebSphere Business Space component are included.

Note:

The main focus in this document is on WebSphere Process Server configuration. The WebSphere Business Monitor section is optional and a running environment can be reached by finishing the WebSphere Process Server steps only. Therefore the chosen production topology refers to the recommended approach for adding a WebSphere Business Monitor to an existing WebSphere Process Server Cluster. For newly created production topologies based on WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere Business Monitor the WebSphere Dynamic Process Edition Four Cluster topology is recommended. For more information refer to the following redbook: WebSphere Business Process Management V6.2 Production Topologies (http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/sg247732.html).

This document introduces the topology of the chosen production environment and describes the different tasks with a series of click-by-click instructions including the installation, configuration and a verification for each main step. The information provided in this document is related to a production environment with several hosts and clusters.

All described steps were verified during a test on real systems in the IBM Böblingen test lab based on the following general available software versions:
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3
  • WebSphere Process Server V 6.2 (including Business Space)
  • WebSphere Business Monitor V 6.2
  • IBM HTTP Server V 7.0
  • Oracle 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0)
  • IBM Tivoli Directory Server V 6.1

This document is produced by the Business Process Choreographer team in Böblingen, Germany.

The main new part added in the second version of the white paper is the WebSphere Business Monitor.

The first part contains the preparation steps as well as the Oracle database setup (chapter 1 to 5):

WPS620_ND7ClusterOracle11g_V2.0_Part1.pdf (4,204,768 bytes)

The second part contains the general cell and basic cluster setup including the Business Space configuration (chapter 6 to 15):

WPS620_ND7ClusterOracle11g_V2.0_Part2.pdf (8,912,055 bytes)

The third part contains the setup for the WebSphere Business Monitor as well as a final verification of the cell with all components (chapter 16 to 28):

WPS620_ND7ClusterOracle11g_V2.0_Part3.pdf (9,574,311 bytes)

New in this second edition is the description how to configure WebSphere Business Monitor.

Note: Another white paper being of interest might be 'WebSphere Process Server Version 6.2.0 with Oracle 10g & 11g Configuring for XA Recovery'. It is a step-by-step guide to configure WebSphere Process Server for distributed transactions (XA) including recovery based on Linux and Oracle.
