Error description

  • You work with IBM SPSS Statistics 24 on a comma based locale
like German, Dutch, French or Spanish. You create different Non
parametric NPTESTS with different files and different variables,
either tests for related samples or independent samples.
The tests are all performed and the results are all correct on
Model viewer for the comma based locale.
However, you notice that the significance level on Model viewer
for each of these tests is displayed wrong.
For example instead of a significance level of ,416 which
indicates a non-significant result you see a value of 416,000
    displayed.

    For example, run syntax below:

    dataset close all.
    new file.
    set locale = German.
    show locale.

    get file = "C:\Program
    Files\IBM\SPSS\Statistics\24\Samples\English\customer_dbase.sav"
    .

    FILTER OFF.
    USE 1 thru 5.

    NPTESTS
/RELATED TEST(age lnequipten tollmon lntollmon tollten
    lntollten) FRIEDMAN(COMPARE=PAIRWISE)
      /MISSING SCOPE=ANALYSIS USERMISSING=EXCLUDE
      /CRITERIA ALPHA=0.05 CILEVEL=95

Local fix

  • This was reported to IBM SPSS development. As a workaround use
either English locale and then create the test again. Another
workaround is to run the command below to change the output from
    Model
Viewer to Traditional tables. This can also be changed on Edit -
Options- Output tab. Select 'Pivot tables and Charts' instead of
    'Model Viewer' as display method.

    SET ODISPLAY=TABLES.

After this command run NPTESTS. The output using traditional
pivot tables will show the correct display of significance value
    also for comma based locales.

*if you want to use English locale use:
    dataset close all.
    new file.
    set locale = English.
    show locale.
