SENDEPRT (Specify Whether to Send an EPRT Subcommand)

The SENDEPRT IBM® i FTP client subcommand specifies whether to send an EPRT subcommand to the FTP server when transferring data, or issuing the DIR and LS subcommands.

FTP client subcommand

SENDEPRT [ 0 | 1 ]

If there is no parameter, SENDEPRT works like a toggle switch. The SENDEPRT value toggles from 1 (ON) to 0 (OFF) or from 0 to 1.

When there is a parameter, the valid values are:

0
Do not send an EPRT subcommand.
1
Send an EPRT subcommand. This value is the default.

The default (on) is to send the EPRT subcommand. When SENDEPRT is off, the FTP client does not send the EPRT subcommand.

Notes:
  1. For systems that ignore EPRT subcommands and incorrectly indicate that they accepted the command, it might be useful to not send the EPRT subcommand to those systems.
  2. Some FTP servers do not support the EPRT subcommand. If SENDEPRT is set to ON and the FTP client attempts a data transfer with a server that does not support EPRT, the FTP client displays a message to indicate that the server does not support EPRT. The FTP client then attempts to establish the data transfer connection by sending the PORT subcommand.
  3. When SENDEPRT is set to OFF or disabled, the PORT subcommand is sent to the server when SENDPORT is ON.
