APPEND (Append a Local File Member to a Remote File)

The APPEND IBM® i FTP client subcommand adds a local file member, document, or other file system file to a remote file.

FTP client subcommand

Append localfile [remotefile]

localfile
The name of the local file member, document, or other IBM i file. The name of the hierarchical file system (HFS) file added to a directory on the remote system.
remotefile
The file on the remote system. If you do not enter a remote file, the FTP client creates a default name.

If the remote file does not exist on the system, the FTP server creates it.

To add a file on the remote system, you must have write privileges to it. You can supply the appropriate account information by using the ACCT subcommand (see ACCT (Send Account Information)).

The default file copy mode is stream. You can change this by using the MODE subcommand. In the case of a fixed-record format in the remote file, the FTP server preserves the file format and record length of the remote file. Records from the local file member shorten or include blanks when necessary.
