Environment variables

There are two types of environmental variables: thread support tunable parameters and miscellaneous tunable parameters.

Thread support tunable parameters
There are many thread support parameters that can be tuned.
Miscellaneous tunable parameters
Several of the miscellaneous parameters available in AIX® are tunable.
32-bit huge executable
For most 32-bit executables, where the text and loader sections reside within the first 256 MB of the file, AIX reserves segment 0x1 of the process address space for the executable's read-only information.
ASO environment variable
System-wide active system optimizer (ASO) tunables are managed by using the asoo command. You can customize ASO settings for a single process by using the ASO environment variables.
