You can use OMR (optical mark recognition) to determine
whether a specific region, such as a checkbox, is marked.
The Rental_Agreement page type in the TravelDocs application
includes an Options field with these three sub-fields, which are checkbox
options that you can manage by using OMR:
- Nav_System
- Child_Seat
- Fuel_Service
OMR zones must always be sub-fields of a parent field. There
are two techniques that you can use:
- Create a single parent field that contains all of the OMR sub-fields.
We use this technique for the rental agreement page.
- Create a separate parent field for each OMR sub-field. We use
this technique for the optional insurance page.
Examples that use multiple OMR sub fields and lookup dictionaries
are provided in the Survey sample, which you can download from the
IBM Developer Works web page. (See Overview of the combination box OMR field and Overview of the list box OMR field.)
To create the OMR zones on the rental agreement page:
- In the Datacap Studio Zones tab Document
Hierarchy pane, click Lock DCO.
- In the Document Hierarchy pane, expand
the Rental_Agreement page (if necessary), select
the Options field and draw a box around the
Options region on the page image.
- Expand the Options field node, select
the Nav_System sub-field and draw a box around
the GPS Navigation checkbox.
- Repeat step 3 for the Child_Seat and Fuel_Service options.
Important: Try to make the boxes as close to the
same size as possible.
- In the Document Hierarchy pane, click Save.
