Configuring InfoSphere DataStage connections to SAP applications

You can use the InfoSphere® DataStage® connections to SAP application page to manage all the connections to SAP that are currently defined on the InfoSphere DataStage server machine. The Administrator tool provides access to following settings related to connection which otherwise had to be accessed separately by different stage types:

Procedure

  • You must configure the connection name, description, logon details and load balancing settings.
  • SNC Settings: You must configure SNC settings for creating secured network connection to SAP from InfoSphere DataStage. For more information, see Configuring SNC Settings for SAP Connection.
  • From version 8.2.0.2 onwards, you must define the Subscriber Name in Operational Data Provisioning (ODP) Settings tab if you want to run Delta Extract Stage with Extractor Type as ODP. It defines your DataStage as an unique subscriber in the SAP system for published data. For extracting the delta data, SAP also maintains a unique Operational Data Queue (ODQ) for each subscriber. Hence you must use an unique subscriber name for each connection or SAP system. Use any unique string, the Administrator tool checks if you are defining an unique value across all SAP connections defined in the current DS project.

Additionally, if you select Use job name as Subscription Name, each delta extract stage job will be used as an unique Subscription under the Subscriber defined as Subscriber Name. SAP also maintains an unique Operational Delta Queue for each subscription. Hence you can use this option if you want to extract delta data uniquely for each Delta Extract Stage job.

  • The IDoc listener settings and DataStage job options: You must configure these settings to receive IDocs through selected connections.
  • The IDoc Load settings: You must configure these settings to send IDocs through the connection.
  • The configuration for individual IDoc types for the selected connection: The user interface is exactly the same as the one in the IDoc Extract Connector stage editor.

You can also import and export individual connections, including the IDoc type settings or add IDoc type configurations from one connection to another connection. The imported connection settings are saved in the proprietary .cxp files.

    Notes:
    • Starting from version 8.0.0.2, only the DataStage users with DataStage and QualityStage Administrator role can define and manage SAP connections. All users with other roles can view the already existing SAP Connection properties, but are not allowed to add, update, remove or import any SAP Connection.
    • Starting from version 8.1.0.0, the Pack uses stronger encryption logic (salted hashing) to store the SAP connection password (configuration file, DSSAPConnections.config). SAP connections migrated from earlier Pack versions to version 8.1, will continue to use the old logic encrypted password. To convert the passwords to the newer stronger encryption logic, you just need to open and close the DataStage Administrator for SAP. This updates the passwords for all defined connections. However note that once passwords are converted, the configuration file will not be usable anymore with lower versions of SAP Pack.
