Errors when you re-install the IBM WebSphere Application Server after an installation failure
An error occurred while reinstalling the same version of IBM® WebSphere® Application Server.
Symptoms
An error similar to the following text is written to the installation log file during the IBM WebSphere Application Server
[2016-0519-1114-4900] listServersInCluster: clusterName = IGC_CLUSTER
WASX7017E: Exception received while running file
"/opt/IBM/InformationServer/ASBServer/etc/iisServerTemplate.py"; exception information: com.ibm.websphere.management.cmdframework.CommandValidationException:
ADMG0262E: Template IBM_Information_Server_template already exists.Causes
This error occurs because the IBM_Information_Server_template was not cleaned up during the installation before trying to recreate it.
Resolving the problem
If you are installing the same version of IBM WebSphere Application Server, that you
previously tried to install, you can choose to continue the install. If it is a different version,
you should delete the template first. To delete the template,
- Open the WebSphere Administration Console
- Expand Server Types -> WebSphere application servers
- Click Templates
- Select IBM_Information_Server_template
- Click Delete
