Installing the web access server and the web access broker on Linux or Solaris systems

When you install the web access server and the web access broker on Linux® or Solaris, you must install as the root user. To install the web access server and the web access broker on different machines, repeat the instructions on each machine.

About this task

The Rational® DOORS® Web Access broker is the component that enables the exchange of messages between the Apache Tomcat and interoperation servers.

To perform a silent installation, see Silently installing the Rational DOORS Web Access server.

Procedure

  1. Go to the directory where you saved the installation file and run it.
Files are automatically extracted, and the installation procedure begins.
  2. Follow the prompts to install the web access server and the web access broker.
  3. Run the configure-festival.sh script, which sets the appropriate permissions on the files in the directory structure and installs the JRE.
    bash configure-festival.sh

If you do not run this script, Rational DOORS Web Access does not start.

Note: The script reports that it is installing JRE. The installation is local to the current directory and does not affect any other Java™ installations on the system.
  4. Optional: After the installation, the root user owns the files. If you plan to set up your system so that a user other than the root user owns and starts Rational DOORS Web Access, you must run a recursive chown command on the files from the root of the Rational DOORS Web Access directory. For example:
    chown -R user:group DWA_home
