Configuring the working set for external applications

You can configure the working set to specify which IBM® Rational® DOORS® projects, folders, and modules are available for use by Tracked Resource Set (TRS), the link discovery capability, and reporting in Rational Insight.

About this task

The configuration of the working set applies to the entire Rational DOORS database. The interface is locked while it is in use to prevent multiple users from making changes in the working set concurrently.

If data that was previously published to a Rational Insight data warehouse is removed from the working set, the data is not removed from the data warehouse if an incremental (delta) ETL load process is run. You must run the full load ETL in Cognos® Data Manager to reflect the changes in the working set.

If you add data to the working set that has not been modified since the last ETL job was run, this data is not recognized by a delta load process in Rational Insight. You must run the full load ETL in Cognos Data Manager to reflect this additional data in reports.

To report on links between objects in two different modules, both modules must be included in the working set.

If you add a module to a working set, the project that contains the module is not added to the working set. If a module that is included in a working set is moved to another project, objects in that project and the project itself are not added to the working set automatically. To expose a complete project in TRS, link discovery, or the reporting application, you must add the project to the working set.

Procedure

To create or modify the working set:

  1. Click File > OSLC > Working Sets.
The Configure DOORS for Working Set window opens.
  2. In the Select Project window, select projects, folders, or modules.
Optionally, select a project or folder and click a button below the pane:
    • Click Select all below to include all folders and modules below the selected project or folder.
    • Click Deselect all below to remove the selection from all objects below the selected project or folder.
  3. Click Apply.
  4. In the Select Modules pane, select projects, folders, and modules to add them to the working set. Click again to clear the check mark and remove objects from the working set.
All modules that are created in the future in a selected folder will be added to the working set. Existing modules are only included in the working set if they are selected when the working set is created.
  5. Click Review changes to open the Current changes window and show items that are added or removed.
  6. Click Apply and Close.
