Subtyping entities

The entity subtyping feature allows you to process business objects that have an inheritance relationship.

Subtyping in this context is about both data and services that process the data. That is, the subtyping framework in InfoSphere® MDM allows for the reuse of elements defined as part of a particular business object as well as the services that process these business objects. Subtyping an entity is not to be confused with creating a data extension for an entity. This section describe the differences between these approaches and when to use each then go further to describe the functional aspects of the entity subtyping feature.
