Asset artifacts

Artifacts are the files and URL links that you can attach to an asset for reuse. You can require that an asset type have one or more specific types of files.

Downloading artifacts

When you download an asset from the web client, you will be prompted to download a .zip file that contains all of the folders, artifact files, and cached link artifacts that are attached to the asset.

When you import an asset into the Eclipse client, the folders and artifacts that are attached to the asset will be downloaded into your Eclipse workspace.

Artifact labels

You can enter additional information about asset artifacts with labels. Artifact labels may be required to satisfy the requirements of a custom review process in a community.

URL link artifacts

You can enter a URL link as an artifact. For example, you could add a link to the most recent version of a file, or you can enter the web address of a useful website. When other users click on a URL artifact, a new browser window opens to that URL.

You can optionally choose to cache a copy of the data found at the URL to the Rational Asset Manager server; user can download that copy when they download the asset.

XML file artifacts

You can configure asset types to automatically assign categories to an asset based on the content of XML files that you attach to an asset.

You can also add the content of elements and attributes of XML artifacts to the Rational Asset Manager search index; other users will be able to use keyword searches to find that content.

You can configure asset attributes to assign values based on the content of XML artifacts.
