Creating catalog service domains in WebSphere Application Server

With WebSphere® DataPower® XC10 Appliance, you define catalog service domains to establish connections with the catalog servers that are running on the appliance. Creating this configuration is required for dynamic cache data grids only.

Before you begin

About this task

By creating a catalog service domain, you are defining a highly available collection of catalog servers. By configuring a catalog service domain, you are establishing connections to the catalog servers that are running on the WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance. This catalog service domain represents the group of catalog servers that are running on the appliances in your collective.

Procedure

  1. Create the catalog service domain.
    1. In the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, click System administration > WebSphere eXtreme Scale > Catalog service domains > New.
    2. Define a name, default value, and JMX authentication credentials for your catalog service domain.
    3. Add catalog server endpoints.
Specify a group of remote servers, which are the catalog servers that are running on appliances in your collective. To view the catalog servers that are running in the collective, click Collective > Members > member_name. The Catalog servers field lists the catalog servers that are running in the collective. You must specify the endpoints with IP addresses or fully-qualified host names. Use the following port values for the appliances:
      • Client port: Not required for connections to catalog servers that are running on the appliance.
      • Listener port: 2809
  2. Test the connection to the catalog servers within your catalog service domain.
    1. In the WebSphere Application Server administrative console, click System administration > WebSphere eXtreme Scale > Catalog service domains.
    2. Select the catalog service domain that you want to test and click Test connection. When you click this button, all of the defined catalog service domain end points are queried one by one, if any one end point is available, returns a message that indicates that the connection to the catalog service domain was successful.
