Solution map

You use the solution map to view the status of goals and tasks in a solution project.

The solution map opens in the Decision Insight perspective by default after you create a solution project.

To open the Solution Map window, click Solution Map on the menu Window > Show View. The Solution Map is located under the Insight Designer view.

The solution map is context-sensitive to each solution you have in your workspace. The map displays the solution project name and an accumulated count of the warnings and errors from all of the projects that are referenced by the solution.

Tasks are grouped in boxes in the map by their overall goal: The goals are labeled Model, Author, Export, and Deploy. The flow between the goals is indicated by connecting arrows from one box to another. Arrows that appear with dashed lines indicate a flow that can be repeated.

The map identifies the status of the tasks in each goal of the solution. When you click a task in the map, Insight Designer opens the relevant dialog or wizard to start that task. The designer enables a task link when certain tasks are already complete. In other words, the order in which you do a task is partially controlled by the map and is intended to help you create a meaningful solution. Tasks that appear in gray in the map are disabled because they are not currently applicable to the status of the selected solution.

The following figure shows the solution map of an empty solution project named MySolutionProject.
