Generic sensors

Generic sensors are used by other sensors to discover configuration items.

Anchor sensor
The Anchor sensor is used for discovery behind a firewall.
Asynchronous discovery sensor
The asynchronous discovery sensor is required for asynchronous discovery. IP addresses that are unreachable (cannot be pinged) are candidates for asynchronous discovery. The asynchronous discovery sensor attempts to determine which of the unreachable IP addresses are valid.
Asynchronous discovery ping sensor
The asynchronous discovery ping sensor retrieves the first valid IP address from a discovery archive file. This IP address is used to seed the asynchronous discovery sensor. If you cannot define a discovery scope and you want to run an asynchronous discovery, you can use this sensor.
Custom application server sensor
The custom application server sensor creates a custom application server that is based on template and runtime process information that is discovered by the generic server sensor. The sensor also collects configuration files or application descriptors if these are specified in the template and performs extension processing to collect additional information.
Custom MIB2 computer system sensor
The custom MIB2 computer system sensor creates a custom computer system that is based on template information.
Custom template sensor
The custom template sensor can be used with custom scripts to analyze and enhance the information that is collected by other sensors. For example, if additional data or information is required, of a Model Object, than discovered by an existing TADDM sensor, then a custom template sensor can be used to fetch the extra data and set it against the discovered model object. The existing model object, discovered by an existing TADDM sensor, is given as an input to the custom template sensor which can enrich it further. Through the custom template sensor, the user can execute additional commands on the target and save the result in appropriate attributes of the existing discovered result object. Users can also define extended attributes on the model object type and then use custom template sensor to set the extended data in the input object. User can also use the result of another sensor and analyze or construct any different model objects.
Generic computer system sensor
The generic computer system sensor discovers the type of a computer system. The results of this sensor are used to start a specific computer system sensor, such as the Linux® computer system sensor.
Generic server sensor
The generic server sensor discovers the application servers that are running on a host computer system.
IBM Tivoli Utilization sensor
The IBM® Tivoli® Utilization sensor gathers basic metrics from a target system. The sensor uses the TADDM discovery infrastructure to deploy scripts that run system-level performance monitoring commands on the target system. At specified intervals, the sensor gathers data from the target system and provides it to the TADDM server, where operating system metric objects are created.
IP device sensor
The IP device sensor creates a lightweight computer system that represents an IP device on the network.
IP interface sensor
The IP interface sensor discovers IP interfaces.
Ping sensor
The ping sensor discovers reachable IP addresses. It gathers information from devices and systems that support TCP/IP.
Port sensor
The port sensor discovers open ports on a host system.
Session sensor
The session sensor creates a session between the TADDM server and the target computer system. Typically, the session is either a Secure Shell (SSH) session or a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) session.
Solaris zones generic sensor
The Solaris zones generic sensor discovers applications running on Solaris local zone systems.
Stack Scan sensor
The Stack Scan sensor provides credential-less discovery (less intrusive discovery) of the installed operating system and open ports on a computer system.
WPAR generic sensor
The WPAR generic sensor discovers applications that run on WPAR systems.
zEnterprise sensor
To discover the zEnterprise® environment, the sensor uses the Enterprise Common Collector (ECC). The ECC is a single entry point for querying all inventory data about the zEnterprise components, both hardware and software.
