Installing the IBM Integration Toolkit in silent mode

Install the IBM® Integration Toolkit by using the installation wizard in silent mode.

To perform a silent installation, complete the following steps:

  1. Determine the installation wizard name for your operating system. See Installation wizard names.
  2. Locate the installation wizard in the Integration_Toolkit directory of the local or remote DVD, or the network drive.
  3. If your user ID has root or administrator authority, enter the following command at a command prompt for an installation with all default settings:
    Linux on x86
    ./installToolkit-silent.sh

Uses the Integration_Toolkit/IM_Linux/mbtoolkit-silent.xml response file that contains all of the Linux default settings for installation.

    Windows
    installToolkit-silent.bat

Uses the Integration_Toolkit/IM_Win32/mbtoolkit-silent.xml response file that contains all of the Windows default settings for installation.

If you want to specify non-default settings, include a different response file on the invocation. To create a different response file, complete the first installation by using the graphical interface, specifying the -record option. The installation wizard records a response file that includes all your chosen selections. For more information about how to record and use response files, see Using response files with the IBM Integration Toolkit.

  4. If your user ID does not have root or administrator authority, you must first modify the relevant mbtoolkit-silent.xml response file to set the installLocation and eclipseLocation value to the path that is accessible to your user ID. Enter the following command at a command prompt to launch the silent installation:
    Linux on x86
    ./installToolkit-silent.sh -nonAdmin

Uses the Integration_Toolkit/IM_Linux/mbtoolkit-silent.xml response file that contains all of the Linux default settings for installation.

    Windows
    ./installToolkit-silent.bat -nonAdmin

Uses the Integration_Toolkit/IM_Win32/mbtoolkit-silent.xml response file that contains all of the Windows default settings for installation.

After installation has completed, switch to a user with root or administrator authority and run the following script file from the IBM Integration Toolkit home directory to complete the installation:

    Linux on x86
    <IIT90_Home>/wmbt/postconfig/postInstall_admin.sh
    Windows
    <IIT90_Home>\wmbt\postconfig\postInstall_admin.bat
  5. The installation wizard completes without any user interaction. Check the log for success or failure of the installation process.
  6. If you experience problems during installation, refer to Resolving problems when installing.

When you have completed installation, see Verifying your IBM Integration Bus installation, Configuring your brokers to conform to your license, and Start and main menu updates after installation.
