Message flow monitoring

You can monitor message flows, learn about monitoring basics and scenarios, and decide how to configure event sources.

A message flow publishes an event when something interesting happens. This event is a message that contains information about the source of the event, the time of the event, and the reason for the event. The event can include the message bit stream, and can also include selected elements from the message body. These fields can be used to correlate messages that belong to the same transaction, or to convey business data to a monitoring application.

You can use these events to monitor your message flows by using IBM® Business Monitor.

You can configure events by using monitoring properties or a monitoring profile. The following topics describe the concepts behind monitoring, different monitoring scenarios, and when to use monitoring properties or a monitoring profile to configure your events.
