Specifies a 1–8 character network identifier to
which the path update specification set applies. This operand is
required. If you do not code it, VTAM® ignores
the entire path update specification set and issues a warning message.
Note: The use of the national character, #, is discouraged,
because this character might not be present on keyboards of terminals
produced in other countries. Because # might not be available on
all terminals, SNA architecture specifically excludes # from the list
of valid characters that can be used for defining network identifiers.
Although VTAM allows you to
use #, other products might enforce this restriction.
If you do not define the specified NETID in the NCP, the
NCP rejects the update request and sends an indicator to the SSCP
that the NETID is not valid. This causes VTAM to issue a warning message.
