Gateway NCP and VTAM interaction z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide SC27-3672-01 |
|
A gateway VTAM® does not have to reside in the gateway NCP native network, but having the gateway VTAM in the NCP nonnative network puts some restrictions on VTAM. Only a small number of commands from a VTAM in a nonnative network are accepted by the gateway NCP: activating, deactivating the gateway NCP, route testing, and requests for address translations. Only VTAMs in the native network can request dynamic dumps or traces of resources. You can prevent link-attached hosts in the nonnative network from loading or dumping the gateway NCP by specifying IPL=NO on the LINE definition statement for that link. You can prevent VTAMs in the nonnative network from activating the gateway NCP by specifying ACTPU=NO on the NETWORK definition statement for that network. |
