Defining and activating XCA-attached CCL NCPs

z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide
SC27-3672-01

VTAM® provides support to enable activation of CCL NCPs over subarea XCA links defined to VTAM using an XCA major node (VBUILD TYPE=XCA). Activation of CCL NCPs through subarea XCA PUs is supported only for leased links (DIAL=NO specified on the GROUP statement) and requires that ALLOWACT=YES be specified on the XCA PUs that represent links to CCL NCPs, as shown in the following example. (The default value of the ALLOWACT operand is NO.)

**********************************************************************
* NAME: XCA major node for host 1A
**********************************************************************
XCA1A    VBUILD  TYPE=XCA
PORT1A   PORT    MEDIUM=RING,ADAPNO=0,SAPADDR=4,CUADDR=500,TIMER=254
GP1AS    GROUP   DIAL=NO,ISTATUS=INACTIVE
LN1A12   LINE    USER=SNA
PU1A12   PU      MACADDR=404A11111111,PUTYPE=5,SUBAREA=12,TGN=1,       *
               SAPADDR=4,ALLOWACT=YES

The VTAM DISPLAY ID command output for subarea XCA PUs includes the letter W as a resource status modifier when ALLOWACT=YES is coded. See the section on VTAM status codes in z/OS Communications Server: IP and SNA Codes for a description of this resource status modifier and the section on the DISPLAY ID command in z/OS Communications Server: SNA Operation for a sample of this output.

Use the existing VTAM VARY ACT, VARY INACT, VARY ACQ, and VARY REL commands to activate or deactivate CCL NCPs, or to acquire or release resources that are defined within CCL NCPs.
