Problem determination in a CMC configuration

z/OS Communications Server: SNA Network Implementation Guide
SC27-3672-01

If you configure your network to use a data host, you should be aware of the following problem determination restrictions associated with this type of attachment to the NCP:
  • The VTAM® I/O trace must be used to verify the transfer of data to and from VTAM over the channel-link station. The VTAM internal trace can be used if necessary. The line trace function cannot be used even though the NCP is defined on a LINE definition statement.
  • The link level 2 test to the NCP is not supported.
  • Any function requiring an SSCP-PU session from the data host cannot be supported (such as NCP storage display, line trace, link level 2 test for resources attached to the NCP or buffer, or TG or SIT traces for any channel-attached cross-domain NCP).
