Purpose of this information

This information helps you write application programs that use the communications storage manager (CSM). It describes the CSM application programming interface (API). It also describes the IVTCSM macro and the programming techniques for using this macro. It is intended to be used by application programs using the high performance data transfer (HPDT) interface. Refer to the z/OS Communications Server: SNA Programmer's LU 6.2 Guide for information about how VTAM® application programs use the HPDT interface.

This information is for system programmers who code authorized application programs for a System/390® or zSeries® host. This audience can include programmers who are modifying existing programs or writing new ones.
