Accessing an Existing Data Set

To make the connection from a program to an existing data set, issue the ALLOCATE command and the operands that establish the connection you want.

Note: If the existing data set is actually a z/OS UNIX file refer to Allocating and Accessing UNIX Files for the specific set of operands to use.
